2008-03-24 18:36:03. Lifespring! Family Bible Daily Audio Gadget Permalink Here's another Google Gadget for Lifespring - this fits into your personalised homepage. The schedules starts again on the 10th January. To help create this and the Google Calendar for LFB, I used IronPython to download the podcast entries and the CPython Interface (with regular Python) to create the Calendar entries. Click the button to add to your Calendar!

2008-01-05 16:51:10. Mashing Up A Podcast and Google Calendar Permalink 2 months later... back blogging and even a bit of Python! This weekend I had an idea to mashup Google calendar, IronPython, Python, the Bible and a podcast. With help from Lifespring's Steve Webb, I put together the first month of the Lifespring daily reading onto a Google calendar with a link. Entries start from 10th January 2008 - but you can get them now. After some feedback, the rest of the year will be added.

2007-12-16 21:04:18. New Blog Permalink Yep started a new blog or at at least a big reworking of and old one which despite the name had largely lost its UK focus years ago. Note For another prophecy site try the recently expanded 'Prophecy in the news' website which is much more than a list of news links.

Resurrection Quotes Permalink "The resurrection proclamation could not have been maintained in Jerusalem for a single day, for a single hour, if the emptiness of the tomb had not been established as a fact." [Paul Althus] "Christ is risen! With this victorious cry the gospel has passed through the lands. The message of the cross is at the same time a message of resurrection [Acts 1:22; 2:32]. In this lies its invincibility." [Eric Sauer] "The point is not that the resurrection is the price paid for our sins. The point point is that the resurrection proves the death of Jesus is an all-sufficient price. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, then his death was a failure, God did not vindicate his sin-bearing achievement, and we are still in our sins." [John Piper commenting on 1 Corinthians 15:17] " And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him." [Mark 16:6] "The tomb of Christ is famous because of what it DOES NOT CONTAIN." (Sam Morris) "Christianity begins where religion ends...with the resurrection." [Anonymous] "The cross is the victory, the resurrection is the triumph...The resurrection is the public display of the victory, the triumph of the crucified one." [Eric Sauer] "What reason have atheists for saying that we cannot rise again? Which is the more difficult, to be born or to rise again? That what has never been, should be, or that what has been, should be again? Is it more difficult to come into being than to return to it." [Blaise Pasal] "For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins." [1 Corinthians 15:16, 17] More Quotes

2007-02-18 19:43:54. Christmas Tree Banned in Seattle Permalink This is so sad on so many levels with the hate emails being the worst. SEATTLE -- The Anti-Defamation League is sending a letter to some local synagogues, asking them to increase security in light of hate e-mails the group has received after a decision by Sea-Tac Airport to take down Christmas trees.

2006-12-11 22:39:03. Top Seven Christian Podcasts Permalink Some general comments before the list itself, firstly I am fairly biased against music shows. Secondly much content is re-packaged radio shows so I have slightly favoured original podcasts. I also drop shows rather quickly (otherwise I get a backlog) and I avoid shows that require any sort of registration, so I may have missed some gems. Please let me know *Top Seven Christian Podcasts*
7. LifeSpring Hymn Stories - A short Devotional with good music and the often surprising tale behind well known hymns. 6. The Whole Truth - This daily devotional show has a short scripture reading. Well produced and just a few minutes a day. 5. Stand's To Reason - This is a radio show but the call-in format suits podcasting fairly well. 4. Zola Levitt - These are TV broadcast's of the Messianic Jew Zola Levitt which have been mixed for audio. Good recording out on location and an episode every weekday. 3. Sixty-Six Forty - Expositional teaching by Chuck Missler. 5 a week and of a small file size but 25 minutes a lesson. 2. Way Of The Master - Radio show edited for Podcasting. This is a heavy weight with around 10 hours a week of content. The street witnessing and preaching is really addictive listening. 1. LifeSpring Original Show - Also the original Christian content created for podcasting. Great production values and an entertaining host in Steve Webb. Please send some suggestions so I can update this to a top 10.

2006-11-30 22:12:49. Haddit With Reddit Permalink Reddit used to be quite good fun. Unfortunately it suffers from a social averaging which means there is a common slant to what is posted so no matter what personalisation algorithm is used the content is rather samey. The average Reddit submitter seems to be a young, morally liberal, left of centre, atheist or new ager. Without a wider group the content is a bit samey. To be fair, this is maybe just my experience as the site changes so often The comments are okay on Reddit. Usually short, few and some witty ones. The atheists are pretty vocal. As I have been one in the past, I have some sympathy with their views. However I am baffled by the attempt to redefine the word atheist! It means you believe there is no god(s). They seem to want to sound 'spiritual but not religious' and have their cake and eat it. Stick to your guns guys! And on the topic of guns, there seems an inevitable jump between a religious claim of exclusivity and violence. Whilst I am convinced this happens and history documents it, the claim that the link inevitable is not true. Logically why can't a faith claim there is only the way but be really nice to everyone who doesn't accept it? Atheists like their logic. Sometimes.

2006-11-22 13:20:56. Sunday Reading Permalink I read this (short) Psalm at Church today. Struck me how bloggable it was. Here's the first of the three verses. BLB Psa 133(Link) ''[[A Song of degrees of David.]] Behold, how good and how pleasant [it is] for brethren to dwell together in unity!''

2006-08-20 22:28:02. The Da Vinci Deception Permalink The Da Vinci Deception - 66/40 - K-House(Link) ''Dan Brown's bestselling book, The DaVinci Code is a real page-turner but constitutes an intentional and very malicious attack on the person of Jesus Christ and Christianity. It has caused much confusion among those inadequately informed about the origins of the Gospels and the history of the early church.''
