2006-11-22 19:58:59. Haddit With Reddit Permalink Reddit used to be quite good fun. Unfortunately it suffers from a social averaging which means there is a common slant to what is posted so no matter what personalisation algorithm is used the content is rather samey. The average Reddit submitter seems to be a young, morally liberal, left of centre, atheist or new ager. Without a wider group the content is a bit samey. To be fair, this is maybe just my experience as the site changes so often The comments are okay on Reddit. Usually short, few and some witty ones. The atheists are pretty vocal. As I have been one in the past, I have some sympathy with their views. However I am baffled by the attempt to redefine the word atheist! It means you believe there is no god(s). They seem to want to sound 'spiritual but not religious' and have their cake and eat it. Stick to your guns guys! And on the topic of guns, there seems an inevitable jump between a religious claim of exclusivity and violence. Whilst I am convinced this happens and history documents it, the claim that the link inevitable is not true. Logically why can't a faith claim there is only the way but be really nice to everyone who doesn't accept it? Atheists like their logic. Sometimes.

2006-11-22 13:20:56. Release of LD Backup Permalink I've been too busy to look at LDBackup for a while. Version 00.08.00 has been waiting since August to be relased. I've updated the CreateRelease script and tidied up the wx imports and it is ready to go. Release 00.08.00 This is the fourth public release of LD Backup and it is not quite 'ready'. The purpose of this release is to get some feedback and maybe find a developer or two to contribute. It is a small project to encourage newbies to Python to take part in OSS software. The program has been tested on Windows XP SP2 and on Ubuntu Linux 6.06 so it may still need some work on other platforms. Cross-platform support is a high priority for version 1.0. Update: The link to LDBackup.
